STROKES

How can physiotherapy help you?

Physiotherapy is a key part of stroke rehabilitation. Physiotherapy helps to regain function, mobility, strength, and joint range following a stroke. It also aims to improve your ability to carry out daily activities and reduce any balance deficits.

To achieve this, physiotherapists use specialist techniques such as specific exercises, positioning, splinting, functional electrical stimulation, task-specific practice, and massage.

Your physio’s role.

At SMARTPHYSIO, we have specialist neuro-physiotherapists who are highly skilled and knowledgeable in stroke rehabilitation. They are highly experienced in caring for all types of stroke presentations, whether mild or severe.

Since strokes often reduce mobility and make it difficult to travel, most of our stroke care takes place in patients’ homes. Having home visits for stroke rehabilitation means that our physiotherapists can observe patients carrying out their daily tasks in their own environment.

An initial consultation with us will comprise of a comprehensive assessment of strength, mobility, transfers, balance, and function. Our physiotherapists will then work with you to come up with a tailored treatment plan to ensure that your goals are achieved.
